Some people say that the only thing capable of travelling faster than the speed of light is rumors. And have I got a juicy one for you. Okay, maybe it’s not a completely new one, but is still more than worthy of attention. We’ve all heard of the iTablet, Apple supposed strike at the netbook market, a hardware which many hoped would debut at Apple’s “It’s Only Rock and Roll” event. Well, it seems we may not have to wait for much longer.

This time, the news come to us from the faraway (at elast for some of us) land of Taiwan. A report from Taiwan Economic News and this time, there’re a few details!

The tablet PC features a 9.6-inch screen, finger-touch function and built-in HSPDA (high speed download packet access) module, and adopts a P.A. SEMI processor chip and long lasting battery pack, selling for between US$799 and US$999.

The battery packs supposedly will be provided DynaPack International Technology Corp. and ramped up to production of 300 000 units per month! And, they are supposed to be “long lasting”. What long lasting is supposed to mean when regarding a yet unreleased product is still unclear, but if Apple really intends to strike at the netbook/tablet market (which grew up to 25% of the overall portable pc market according to some of the latest reports), they need to leave their mark with a long, 10-12 hour battery.

The touchscreen is supposed to be provided by Wintek Corp., while its mini-coaxial cables and power chokes should come from Wanshih Electronic Co., Ltd. and Mag. Layers Scientific-Technics Co., Ltd. respectively.

The components should come together at Apple in December, and early 2010 (probably February) is the most likely date we could expect to see them. If we remeber the upcoming Apple Macbook Event in october, we can only keep our hopes up that our dream tablet is finally on it’s way!
